Higford Hall

Project Description:

Having previously completed the building of a new Stable Block and Barn for Young Options on their site at Higford, we were approached by the Chairman of the Options Group to negotiate and assist with the design and development of a new residential and educational facility for autistic children and children with challenging behaviour on the site of the former Higford Hall which had burned down some years earlier.

Working in collaboration with the Client and our supply chain AMG developed a 3 phase scheme that would enable partial occupation of the building in line with Options Group’s Business Plan. The first phase was the rebuild of Higford Hall which houses the centres; Reception, Training Rooms, Offices, Medical Room, Kitchen and an 8 bedroom single storey residential wing to the rear of the Main Hall that also includes a central courtyard which has covered with a patent glazed roof to provide a secure play area. The white rendered building was designed to fit in with the existing buildings on the site and to replicate the style of the original hall. The second phase was the construction of a 10 bedroom residential block built in a similar style to the main hall and a separate steel framed therapy barn which included the latest technology in interactive equipment. The final stage was the construction of a glazed walkway to link all the schools facilities and provide igloo type pods that house interactive floor sensors that when pressed sprays the pods with jets of water
